Exchange-rate calculations need a rate timestamp and fee treatment
Currency conversion is a multiplication or division by an exchange rate expressed for a particular pair of currencies. The direction matters: an exchange rate quoted as units of currency B per unit of currency A is multiplied by the amount in A to obtain the corresponding amount in B. Reversing the pair requires the reciprocal rate, not a repeat of the same multiplication.
For example, if one unit of currency A is quoted as 1.25 units of currency B, converting 100 A at that hypothetical mid-market rate yields 125 B before provider charges. Banks, cards, and remittance services may apply their own buy/sell spreads and fixed fees, and some providers charge on either the amount sent or amount received.
A manually entered rate is not automatically live or executable. Compare the timestamp, transaction currency, settlement charges, rate source, and final received amount before making a payment or transfer. This tool is best for estimating scenarios with known inputs, not asserting that a provider will honor a displayed rate.
